Baby Nursery @ Rowan Reg.

Hey Everyone,

Well today I was at Rowan Reg. I was assigned to the new baby nursery. I got to do my first assessment on my 1 day old and it was so much better than using the dummies in the lab. When you actually do the reflexes man do they move!! It was pretty cool the way the react. Then the doctor came in to do his checks and he let me and Holly watch when he circumcised 2 babies. He was great explaining each and every step of the procedure. After my baby went back to his mother the nurse I was following was giving a new born a bath. So I got to see that procedure first hand. When we checked off I couldn't understand why the babies head would be washed last. Well now I know. When the baby comes off the warming bed and she gave him has bath you could tell he was starting to get chilled. So Lisa and I talked about it and she said to wash the baby and then wrap it up tightly so he can begin to warm up again. Then she proceded to wash the hair and he just laid in her arms and loved it. He was so content. So the check off sheet would be the way to go in my opinion. Well I hope everyone else had a good day.

HD Rotation

Hello everyone!

I had my rotation through the RHD this week and it was very interesting. I saw more vagina's and cervix's then I thought I would. I followed Ashley Carson NP around for the 3 hrs I was there and she was very nice and informative. Most of the women coming in wanted either BCP or the Depo shot. The ages of the clients were 15 - 45. The 45yr old lady got very upset when Ashley told her she could not give her BCP because of her smoking and age but would be happy to give her the pills IF she quit smoking. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN is what the lady said. So, Ashley gave her some condoms and sent her on her way. I hope all of you have just as good experience as I did at the HD. Guys, if you don't know much about the female anatomy now, you will after the HD rotation. Have a great week!!

Not so excited about having summer class... but atleast I'm spending it with my friends!!! I think this semester I will find my calling!!

Relieved to have that pediatric calculation done. Another step towards the light, hahaha. Looking forward to clinicals but not looking forward to keeping my gas tank filled. Good luck to everyone.
