This week was a pretty good week, My pt. was a 21 y/o primigravida. I had a chance to do the post partum assessment and some teaching on breastfeeding. One thing that I thought was pretty interesting is that we learned in class about the WBC being increased after birth, well I guess that had slipped my mind, and when I looked at her labs I noticed her WBC were pretty high. Of course my first thought was I need to be thinking about an infection, but she was afebrile with no other s/s of infection. After going home and pondering this I realized her WBC's are suppose to be that way. It was interesting to see something that we had just talked about in the clinical setting, actually happening. Overall it was a good week, I learned alot and am excited about getting to play with the babies next week.
