Okay, so on Wednesday I went to the Rowan County Health Department. I shadowed two different nurses in this rotation. I enjoyed watching how they interacted with their clients. Both were very autonomous...this was intimidating to me. After more hands-on experience I would be interested in public health.
On Thursday I was assigned to the newborn nursery....but at 1300 all of the babies are in the rooms with their mommy's. I thought at first it would be weird to assess the baby with mom hovering over me, but thankfully Rebecca was assigned to the mom and we tag teamed the assessments. Still I explained to the other family members what I was doing and looking for. I even held the baby, rocked her....talked all soft and made stupid noses...Donna you would be so proud!!! Anyway.....I found that not only was I helping out with the baby, but mom too....One of the best experiences so far this rotation.
