L&D @ NEMC and RCHD

Thursday I was in L&D. I arrived on the floor around 1:20 and by the time 2:45 rolled around I had seen two C-sections. The first baby did not want to breathe on its own and they could not find a heart beat for about 30 seconds. When they hit the panic button everyone came running. He finally started to cry, but they did have to take him to the NICU. The mom was 18 years old and asked to be put to sleep because she said she could feel everything. The next section that I saw the baby was very healthy and crying. This was a section because the baby's HR was decelerating after the contraction and would not go back to baseline within the alotted amount of time. It was an awesome experience The nurses on L&D were very helpful. My health department experience was O.K. I was able to see how they do pap smears, and also got to see an IUD removed.
