postpartum

this week I was on postpartum. I ended up having 2 different pts. the first was a 29 yo f. she and her husband were high school teachers and this was there first baby. they were very excited and had lots of questions. the 2nd day I had a single mother. she had some problems in delivery and she and the baby ended up on 2 antibiotics. she was extremely worried about her baby because they wouldn't let her come out of the nursery. I was able to sympathize with her because of my worries during the pregnancy and premature birth of my son. both days were alittle slow but I got to do alot of teaching and really connect with both of my pts. mrs beaver is really great, she is very knowledgeable and helpful. I got to give 2 iv piggybacks and some po pain meds. I did miss holding the babies but I can go home and hold my not so little baby. its amazing how much a womans body can go through and still come out ok in the end. im looking foward to the lab simulation....i hear its really great and mrs ward outdid herself with it.
