Today I went to the Rowan county Health Dept. I got to follow the nurse practitioner around and she was very informative. I saw several teenager's that came in for their post partum exam and also a few that were getting tested for STD's. We did a test on one of the girls for Bacterial Vaginosis and Yeast inf. and Tammy (the NP) let me look under the microscope at the bacteria and the cells that had funky walls...it was pretty cool. She also sprayed the specimen with I forget what and smelled and said that she was positive for yeast ...it smelled like ammonia... :) Anyway, overall it was a really good experience...I was not really looking forward to it but it turned out to be pretty interesting!! Tomorrow I go to L&D with Mrs. Beaver...I'm very excited!!!
