First week of OB

Okay, so my first day was a bit hard because I had a post-partum pt. and didn't know what really to expect. We haven' t had lecture on it yet and I have no personal experience to pull from. The second day was much easier after the gained confidence of my patient and from all the late night reading the night before. My pt was a 23 y/o C-section delivery of a healthy baby boy. Her incision looked great...I was surprised she was getting around so well. I got to D/C her foley and S.L. , felt her fundus; firm and midline. She asked alot of questions about breastfeeding and thank goodness Mrs. Phelps was right there with me to guide me along. I also learned different ways to help with breast tenderness and cracking and shared this with my patient. The nurses I had were very helpful and reassuring to have. Overall, good experience. I can't wait to see a birth this week!!!
